Political Campaign Manager, Executive Director

Political Campaigns

I was recruited to become the Executive Director of the Alaska state Democratic Party, serving under three different party Chairs;

  • Oversaw all aspects of running state-wide party functions; working with over 90 volunteer Central Committee and District  Chairs, men and women representing different regional and ethnic groups.
  • Hired staff, recruiting, training and nurturing volunteers,
  • Overseeing six figure budgets, responsible for coordination of quarterly Central Committee meetings and biannual State Conventions, and the logistics associated with these gatherings.
  • Close interaction with elected officials and their staff on the federal, state and local level.

Involved in all aspects of hundreds of campaigns:

  • Media relations, with an emphasis on free/earned media
  • Fundraising
  • Community Organizing
  • Candidate recruitment, (with an emphasis on minority candidates: Women, Native, Asian, African-American, Latino, LGBTQ, and Pacific Islander)
  • Oversaw all aspects of voter contact, polling, phone banks, door-to-door canvassing, voter ID and GOTV efforts.
  • This position required me the ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines, produce clearly written staff communications and political tracts, press releases and letters to the editor
  • Required persuasive public speaking skills
  • On a daily basis needed to think on my feet, troubleshoot and solve problems, work as a member of a large team.
  • Successfully elected Democrats in an extremely conservative red state dominated by registered Republicans.

This is just a partial list of duties performed over the years.
